To increase the sale on eBay each seller should create his/her own strategy and among them, there is surely the creation of a bargain sale.

What’s a Promotion on eBay?

The promotion allows to promote the listings with “Auction” and “Buy it now”. In this way, you can make new offers and set a discount on the final price of the item you chose. Have you ever seen a listing where there is the original price crossed and replaced by a new price? Here you are, in this case, it is a promotion.

You can use promotions for festivities, seasonal sales or to sell the last pieces in stock.

The discounts can be added as percentage, fixed price or you can choose to delivery for free. If you choose the discount, this must be between 5 and 50 percent.

How to do a promotion?

It is easy, just follow these steps:

My eBay > Account > Marketing tools  > Manage Sales > Create a promotion

You can create it and enable directly, program it with 6 months advantage or create it as “disabled”. There are, however, some limits that are good to know:

  • The item must be sold at least for 7 days with standard price;
  • Once enabled the listings, they can be enabled from 1 to 45 days (in case of ‘Buy it now’) or until the expiry of the listing (in case of ‘Auction’);
  • In some cases, the publication of the new price could take until 6 hours;
  • The promotions must be enabled for a minimum of 3 days and a maximum of 14 days;
  • if you modify the price or the shipping costs for a promotion, the listing is removed from the promotion;
  • the advertisement of promotions is forbidden according to the rule of law about the unfair competition and consumer goods (get in touch with a lawyer and the eBay support).

To have an in-depth overview of the promotion tool we suggest you look at the official website.
